Serbia has committed to subsidizing a new air route between Belgrade and Kazakhstan. This route will be operated by either Air Astana or SCAT Airlines following the signing of an agreement between Serbia and Kazakhstan. The announcement came after talks between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Kazakh leader Qasym-Zhomart Toqaev in Belgrade. Vučić emphasized that the good connection to Kazakhstan is of great importance for both countries and was grateful for the initiative of his counterparts. The airline taking over the service will be announced shortly as negotiations are still ongoing.
As part of the cooperation, the planned flights are intended to provide a strong connection between Belgrade and the Kazakh cities of Astana and Almaty. In addition, it was emphasized that Serbian citizens do not need a visa to enter Kazakhstan, further improving travel facilitation. Kazakhstan has chosen Air Astana as the preferred airline for this route, while Serbia has made its own choice for the airport connecting services.
Air Astana is the largest airline in Central Asia and the Caucasus region with a fleet of over 50 flights and a world-class route network. SCAT Airlines also operates a significant fleet and connects numerous destinations. This new cooperation is expected to strengthen the air transport network in the region and further strengthen relations between Serbia and Kazakhstan.
