The Belgian Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines has taken delivery of its Airbus A320neo. This is equipped with CFM Leap-1A engines and is the first of five that the aviation company will have in fleet.
In the Brussels Airlines configuration, the Airbus A320neo has 180 seats. There is also the aforementioned Airspace cabin, which includes more storage space for hand luggage. The new A320neo will join Brussels Airlines’ Airbus fleet of 43 flights, including 34 flights of the A320 family and the new A330-300. The new aircraft is the perfect size for the European market and will be used on the airline’s short and medium-haul network. The new addition has the registration OO-SBA.
“It is crucial for us to modernize our fleet to reduce our carbon footprint.” The A320neo significantly reduces both noise pollution and carbon footprint compared to the current A320 generation. We are pleased to receive the first brand new aircraft directly from Airbus in Toulouse, and four more will follow at the end of next year. “This is the milestone in our history and today is truly a moment of pride,” said Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO, Brussels Airlines. “Brussels Airlines has worked hard to become profitable.
