The low-cost airline Ryanair has been present at Nuremberg Airport for ten years. The airport currently operates a base operated by Malta Air, consisting of two medium-haul Boeing 737-800 jets. At the same time, Neal MacMahon, Director of Operations, announces the biggest summer yet.
Last year, the low-coster from Nuremberg had around half a million passengers. In the current year 2023 one aims at 1.2 million travelers. During the past ten years, 5.4 million passengers have been transported to/from Bavaria. “A balanced mix of European city connections, tourist destinations around the Mediterranean and family visits opens up a wide range of travel planning options,” says Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Nuremberg Airport. « Ryanair’s longstanding involvement in Nuremberg shows that our region is an attractive market for the airline. »
The city of Nuremberg also gives the low-cost airline real roses, because the incoming guests are particularly important for gastronomy, accommodation and retail. Michael Fraas, Economics and Science Officer of the City of Nuremberg: « Particularly routes such as Bologna, Dublin, London or Venice are a gift for Nuremberg’s hotel, catering and retail trade, since many people with high purchasing power travel to Nuremberg from these cities with roots in Italy, Greece and Spain would often use Ryanair’s flight offers for home visits.
More efficient operation and reliable airport charges achieve the basis on which Ryanair wants sustainable traffic growth and even better connections from Nuremberg. The airport and airline are working together to ensure this growth and to improve the services for specialists who live, work or want to visit the region.
“As Nuremberg’s No. 1 airline, Ryanair is delighted to celebrate 10 years at the Nuremberg location with the launch of the 2023 summer flight schedule, which includes 30 routes including two new routes to Seville and Tenerife. This record schedule is underpinned by Ryanair’s commitment to Nuremberg, two aircraft based there, a $200 million investment and 60 local and well-paid aviation jobs. Since first touching down in Nuremberg in 2013, Ryanair has flown more than 5.4 million passengers to/from the amazing destination to date. We have worked closely with our partners at Nuremberg Airport to improve service and provide an excellent customer experience for those who live, work or wish to visit Nuremberg or the Bavaria region,” said Neal McMahon, Director of Operations at Ryanair .
